How to care for your leather sofa.
Because some of our leathers are softer and more ‘naked’ than leathers of previous generations, they do require some basic care.
Aniline dyed leather sofas cannot be placed in direct sunlight or in areas such as near or against exposed glass windows as this will cause fading and damage to the leather.
Do not place your leather sofa near sources of heat such as fires or heating units.
Cleaning by gently removing the dust and grit that slowly builds upon the surface ensures the leather will age gracefully and retain its natural character. The best way to do this is by wiping the leather with a very lightly dampened lint cloth or vacuuming with a soft upholstery attachment.
Only use recommended aniline leather upholstery conditioning balms.
How to care for your fabric sofa.
Because dust is the enemy, always ensure your sofa is vacuumed regularly using gentle low suction and a soft brush accessory. Protect from direct sunlight and any sources of heat.
To maintain the shape and condition of your sofa cushions plump and rotate loose cushions regularly. Fabric pilling can occasionally occur as a result of daily wear and should not be considered as a fault. Fibre pills can be removed by a pilling machine.
Clean all spots and stains by attending to them as soon as possible. Gently remove soil or mop any liquid from the surface of the fabric, do not saturate the cover fabric or the cushion filling with water or other cleaning fluids. You may spot clean with a dry cleaning solvent, however it is recommended that you use a professional dry cleaning service for regular cleaning.
Removable covers require dry cleaning only, do not shampoo clean or machine wash. Be sure to provide adequate ventilation during dry cleaning and or after spot cleaning.
All frames are 10 years. Cushion core materials are covered for a period of 5 years against abnormal loss of resiliency, as long as it remains upholstered in the original covering and is used under normal conditions. Some loss of resiliency of the foam core and fiber and or feather wrap should be expected and will not be considered defective. Feather leeching (loss) over the life time of the product is considered normal and is not a defect.
